Class Description:
Experience the exciting craft of steel forging and toolmaking through demonstration and hands-on exercises in this weekend workshop. After instruction on the properties and characteristics of different metals, students work a forge and learn how to manipulate h
Demonstrations of various hammer types and the applications of different anvil designs are given. Building and operation of both gas and coke-fired forges are discussed. Students are encouraged to develop their own direction and interests in forging and toolmaking as an art form.
This class is limited to 4 students - enroll early!
Class will be held at the instructor's forging studio. Please see the link in the online class listing for details about required attire, a map to the class location, and other details about what students should bring to class.
